Morning! I haven't had a chance to post since last week, as I had hoped. Part because I cant really put the computer on my lap for typing like I used to and because the days get so filled up with people coming and going there isnt really time unless its really early in the morning or late at night when I am ready for some zzzzzzzz's.. Typically when I am one the laptop its for purusing the web or a quick note. Its frustrating that I am not able to write more on the blog or emails as of late, but I guess its 'par for the course' :-) knowing I will have 4 kids to tend to very soon. We are headed to Boston this morning for the 34 week check up. I have to say one of the best parts of making it this far (aside from the higher chance of healthy babies) is knowing the trips to Boston during morning rush our are less and less. Matter of fact, next week would be the last official dotctor appt. which is so strange! I just cant believe we have made it to the point of 34 weeks (tomorrow). I remember so early on when doctor after doctor said how difficult and unlikely it would be to even make it to 30 weeks and now, the final and farthest point of 35 weeks is only a week away. God is good. We have been more than fortunate on this first leg of the triplet journey and I cant rave enough about all the support and help we have been given up until now. I will say that as positive as I want to keep this blog, there are some realistic pieces of it that I would have to share to keep honest with how it feels to be growing three babies. I am tired. I am big. I am uncomfortable. I am scared. I am worried. I think that about covers it! In all seriousness, as much as I am not sure that I am officially ready to become a Mom of three babies or that I will be able to do as good of a job at it as I would hope ... I am ready not to be pregnant anymore. I generally had a very easy pregnancy (with Caroline too) but there becomes a point when the body says "enough is enough" and I got to that point about a week ago. I know most people keep saying "you look great" or "you're all belly" or "you dont look like there are three in there" and they mean it to be so nice and to make we feel better. But for me, I feel and look like a house, weighting only 13 lbs more than normal but feeling the weight bearing in places that shoudnt be mentioned (ha), and yes, there are three very large, busy, and strong babies in there moving all the time kicking the insides of a body that dont feel so great. The other part of the complaints is ......... the loss of breath all the time, the pain just walking to the bathroom, not being able to stand for longer than 2 minutes to make my own food, not being able to just roll over in the middle of the night, not being able to take a shower standing up, not being able to drive (esp with a new car in the driveway), not being able to lean over the bathroom counter to tweeze my own eye brows or put on makeup easily, driving to friends houses for a visit, going out to dinner and sitting in a regular chair upright for a yummy meal, picking up Caroline and snuggling her in a rocking chair, giving her a bath, going for a walk on these gorgeous evenings, being alone for longer than 10-20 minutes, ok ok ok I think thats enough complaining for one morning. Anywho ... I know all of these things are SO small in the grand scheme, and all VERY short lived over the next few weeks, but I feel like this blog would be missing some important pieces of this pregnancy if I didnt share how I was feeling as this final week approaches us.
So, as I get ready to walk out the door to Boston, I depart with a bittersweet feeling that although I am VERY thankful to have gotten this far, it doesnt come without its own realistic and challenging trials.
Love to all and thanks again for all your support over the last weeks of a triplet pregnancy!
Way to go!!! You tell it like it is, but soon all the difficulty and discomfort will be a distant memory. And you WILL be able to take care of 3 babies + a toddler - you will surprise yourself with your resourcefulness BUT don't be afraid to accept help too! You have done an awesome job! Best of luck in your final days and can't wait to see pics of those cute babies !!
