First day back to work for Daddy ...

Today is a day when I find myself thinking through all that has really transpired over the last few months. Time has gone by so slow, yet so fast! Thinking back to the days when I wondered if I would ever be able to handle three babies on my own ... seem like forever ago ... but here we are, and it has only just begun! Thankfully I have had such incredible and supportive people along the way to keep my "head in the game" to get to this day. Although I dreaded the day that Scott would walk out the door to go back to work, I also looked forward to knowing that when it came, it meant we were starting to get into a routine and life might actually be able to balance back out, well eventually anyway :-). Of course I cant do it by myself just yet, with Carolines needs of being a 2 year old toddler, and three hungry mouths every 3 hours ... there is next to no way of doing it on my own, no matter how much I wish I could. The babies are still too young yet, to be able to really get into a "schedule" or expect that we could leave them in a room alone to sleep. Speaking of, we had quiet the scare over the weekend. On Friday night, Scarlett had a reflux episode (much like Amelia had in the hospital), which caused for a 911 call, ambulance ride, and overnight stay at the local NICU. It was VERY scary to say the least! Scott found her in the bassinet at approx 11:30 - about an hour after we put her down, with a purple/dark red color, with her back arched and her eyes bugged out and rolled to the back of her head. He immediately picked her up and started to pat her back aggressively until she started to respond. Eventually we could here her try to gasp for air in between fluid bubbles coming from her mouth. Shewas going in and out of that position a few times until I finally called 911. It took the ambulance what felt like 10 years to get here, but was actually 10 minutes. Once we got off from 911 I called my mom to come stay with the rest of the kids.  I went in the ambulance with Scarlett while Scott waiting for my mom and eventually came to the hospital in the van. Once we got there they decided to admit her to the NICU at Southern NH Medical Center for observation. She was released early the next morning and they just said we need to limit her formula intake and try to keep her more upright after feeding and burps to help limit her reflux. Basically due to the fact that they are preemies, their brains haven't fully developed to know that when they spit up, not to breath through their nose and choke ... seems like a basic and simple concept to us ... but to them, they just dont know yet. So needless to say, we have been sleeping with one eye open ever since Friday!!

Ok, kiddos are up for a feed, got to jet, will be on a bit later with more updates and share about Carolines little birthday get together yesterday - and share the latest pics of the trips photoshoot! till then, mouths to feed and butts to clean! :-) yeeha!~
